Man injured in northeast Charlotte shooting dies in hospital

A suspect has been charged after a man who was found with life-threatening gunshot wounds in a northeast Charlotte home died, police say. 

The victim was identified as Subhi Elmasharawy, 22. The shooting happened around 9:00 p.m. in the 2000 block of Pimpernel Road on Sunday, Jan. 6. 

Elmasharawy was taken to the hospital by Medic for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries on Jan. 9.

Officers who arrived on scene said evidence indicated that the victim had been shot inside of the home.

Police have charged the suspect, 17-year-old Shawn Sanders, with first degree murder and first degree burglary. 

Detectives are continuing to investigate. No other information has been released at this time.
