Man pistol-whipped, shots fired in west Charlotte

A man was pistol-whipped and shots were fired in west Charlotte, according to police. 

Around 3:30 a.m. officers responded to the 12400 block of Morning Creek Ln. in reference to an assault. At this time, police say it appears the victim was hit in the head with a gun by another man while in the driveway of a home.

Shots were fired, but the victim was never hit by a bullet. He was taken to CMC-Main with serious, but non-life threatening injuries by Medic. 

A motive is not yet know. Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
