Man robs Caldwell County store at gunpoint, forces clerk into back room

The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man who robbed a local store at gunpoint Thursday morning and forced the clerk into a back room. 

The armed robbery happened around 7 a.m. Thursday, March 15 shortly after the business, Pappy's Market, opened on Dudley Shoals Road. 

The clerk told investigators that a man came into the store carrying a long rifle and took property before forcing the clerk into a back room and fleeing in a white sedan. The clerk said the car left heading towards what's known as the Five Points Intersection towards the town of Granite Falls. 

The robber was described as a white male with brown hair and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a gree polo shirt, under a reversible work-type jacket with a camo pattern on the inside and lime green on the outside. He also had a gray hoodie over his head partially covering his face. 

The clerk was not injured in the robbery.
