Man shot at McDonald's while attempting to sell shoes, flees to police station

A man is recovering after police say he was shot at a Gastonia McDonald's while attempting to sell a pair of shoes. 

The incident occurred Monday morning at the McDonald's on Franklin Boulevard near Beverly Drive. 

According to police, a man with a gunshot wound showed up at the Lowell Police Department saying he'd been shot. The man told officers he did not know the shooter but had met the person to sell him a pair of shoes. 

The man told police he ran into a fence with his vehicle on Beverly Drive as he fled the scene. He was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center after going to the Lowell Police Department at about 11 a.m. Monday. 

Police said his injuries are non-life-threatening.
