Man shot in west Charlotte, suspect calls police

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police were called to the scene of a shooting on Friday night. 

Around 8:45 p.m. officers responded to an apartment in the 600 block of Fairwood Ave. for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. 

When they arrived, they found an adult male victim who had been shot inside of an apartment. He was taken to the hospital by Medic where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary information indicates that the shooting actually occurred on the front porch of the apartment that the victim was found in. At 8:55 p.m., the suspect called 911 and told police that he had just shot the victim.

He was found in the 100 block of Remount Road and officers took him into custody without incident. The victim and the suspect are known to each other. 

Officers are canvassing the area to see if there are any witnesses to the crime.
