MECKLENBURG CO., N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - Traffic is backed up for miles Tuesday along Interstate-85 in Mecklenburg County after a man was struck and killed by a vehicle while reportedly trying to cross the busy interstate.
Multiple lanes on I-85 southbound were closed at Glenwood Avenue as crews worked to clear the scene. No word yet on the man's identity or why he was trying to cross the road.
All southbound traffic on I-85 at Glenwood was being directed into the far right lane Tuesday.
A witness told FOX 46 that he observed a man running across multiple lanes of traffic when he was hit by a vehicle. This incident remains under investigation. Check back for updates throughout the day.
