Man wanted for murder in deadly shooting captured in Lexington

A man wanted for shooting and killing a 20-year-old earlier this week in Salisbury has been captured in Lexington, North Carolina, police said. 

Terry Eugene Watson, Jr., 20, has been served warrants for murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle and assault on a female. 

Officers with the Salisbury Police Department were called to the 200 building of Laurel Pointe Apartments at 11:59 p.m. Monday for reports of shots fired. The victim, Isaiah Malik Gillespie, was shot at while inside a vehicle outside building 200, police said. 

A witness told police they saw Gillespie being loaded into a vehicle and leaving the scene.

Officers responded to Novant Rowan Regional Medical Center where Gillespie was brought in by private vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

Watson has been placed in the Rowan County Detention Center without bond. His first court appearance is set for Thursday, November 9.
