A man and woman are facing multiple charges in connection to a violent attempted armed robbery in south Charlotte on Sunday, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

The incident happened at 12:10 a.m. near the 10200 block of Old Ardrey Kell Road.

The victim told officers she had arranged to meet Javon Partae Turner, 26, and Roderia Kelly, 22, for a business exchange. She said their prearranged agreement was not met and the deal was terminated.

The victim says Turner then asked to use her cell phone. When she refused, Turner reportedly attempted to take the phone from her and struck her in the head. He then took out a knife and demanded the woman's phone and money.

The victim says Kelly and Turner drove away in in a white BMW sedan. Officers were able to find the car nearby and attempted to make a traffic stop; however, the driver of the BMW would not pull over.

Officers and CMPD's Aviation Unit pursued the BMW until it came to a stop near Arrowood Road and I-77. Turner tried to run away and was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. Kelly, who was the driver of the BMW, was also apprehended. Both face a slew of charges including attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
