Matthews PD credits witness for calling in suspicious car occupied by fugitive

Matthews Police are crediting a witness for speaking up in the departments' arrest of a woman who had an outstanding warrant for stealing a car.

Officers responded to a report on Monday at 9 a.m. about a suspicious vehicle occupied by two people sleeping in it.

The responding officer made contact with the two people in the car, which was located at 1900 Windsor Hill Drive in Matthews.

A brief investigation revealed the vehicle as stolen out of Rock Hill and the female had a fugitive warrant out for her arrest.

Anne Niehous, 24, was taken into custody and faces multiple charges including possession of a stolen vehicle and grand theft auto.
