McCrory files for recount in NC gubernatorial race

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory has filed for a statewide recount for the state's gubernatorial race.

The Republican incumbent's campaign made the announcement Tuesday, but said that the formal recount would not occur until after the county boards of election certify their results.

"With many outstanding votes yet to be counted for the first time, legal challenges, ballott protests and voter fraud allegations, we must keep open the ability to allow established recount process to ensure every legal vote is counted properly," said Russell Peck, Pat McCrory's campaign manager.
