CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - UPDATE: Leah L’Shae Kelley has been located and is safe.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a missing 18-year-old who has special needs.
Leah L’Shae Kelley left her home on Savannah Creek Drive in Steele Creek on Thursday, Jan. 17 at approximately 12:30 a.m. after having an argument with her mother, police said.
Kelley was showing signs of mental distress in her home and she was damaging property in her bedroom when her mother called 911 asking for police assistance. Prior to officers arriving, Kelley reportedly ran out the back door of her house and it's unknown if she got dressed before leaving on foot.
Kelley frequents the Walmart located at 8180 S Tryon St and the local area gas stations, police said.
CMPD said they've used K-9 Units and their helicopter to try and find her.
Anyone who locates Leah Kelley is asked to call 911.
