Mooresville man charged with pointing gun at girlfriend's head

Barney Richardson is accused of holding a gun to his girlfriend's head, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office announced Friday.

A Mooresville man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly held a gun to his girlfriend's head, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office announced Friday.

Deputies were called to the Mount Ulla Highway home after the girlfriend called to say Barney Richardson had stuck a gun to her head. She was found outside the home when deputies arrived but Richardson initially refused to leave the home. After a short time, Richardson left the home but struggled with law enforcement before being placed into custody.

Richardson has been charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Assault on a Female, Assault by Pointing a Gun, Resisting Arrest, and Obstruct and Delaying Officers. He was denied bond because of the domestic violence nature of his charges, the sheriff's office said. He is being held in the Iredell County Jail.
