A toddler that's captured viewers hearts continues to defy the odds one year after a horrible accident.

One year ago, on September 15, 2015, Emily Hinton was severely burned when a gas can exploded in her backyard.

Since then, she's undergone multiple surgeries.

Emily's mother, Amy Hinton, took to Facebook Thursday posting an emotional and heartfelt message:

"That day will be forever etched into my mind, a year seems long, but for me everything still seems so fresh. I also have to admit that while writing this it has re-opened that wound, but I needed to do this! I feel so much better today being able to share this as I glance at Emily smiling and she smiles back at me blowing kisses! This morning I came downstairs and was greeted with the biggest hug and kiss from heart melted! Thank you God for all of the doctors the nurses, the first responders, the support group, our church, & EVERYONE who saved Emily's life."
