Mount Holly community steps up to help family after house fire

Emily and G.T. Swindell cannot express the appreciation they have for the family and friends who have stepped up to help them after a fire decimated their home.

The Tuesday night fire displaced the married couple and their four young boys. The family said they aren't even allowed inside the home and that everything inside was destroyed.

They're now staying with extended relatives.

The family was not at home at the time of the fire, and investigators are trying to determine the cause of the flames.

Neighbors have started a GoFundMe Page to help the family rebuild.

"This has been such a blessing," Emily said.

They're also collecting items for the family to get them back on their feet and are requesting: gift cards, kids suitcases, a hair dryer, plastic bins, clothing hanging racks, storage bins, packing tape, hangers, laundry detergent and school supplies.

"Just want to thank everybody, and thank the community, and just keep us in your prayers," G.T. said.
