Museum of York County holds 'Harry Potter Science Saturday'

The Museum of York County delves into Harry Potter’s world of the magic, fantasy and mystery this March. "Harry Potter Science Saturday” is an annual family-friendly event that focuses on real science with fun Harry Potter-themed activities, organizers said. 

Muggles and wizards alike can participate in learning activities throughout the day at the Museum of York County. Harry Potter Science Saturday offers real encounters with live snakes, hissing cockroaches, and a bearded dragon.

Folks can learn about Nicolas Flamel and the History of Alchemy. Attendees can "get on their brooms" and practice with players from the University of South Carolina’s Gamecock Quidditch Team. Folks can also can answer riddles of the Sphinx to test their logic skills.

The Museum Guild will have non-alcoholic Butterbeer and other refreshments for cash-only purchases. The Museum Store will also be stocked with Harry Potter inspired merchandise including children’s wands, puzzles and playing cards.

Harry Potter Science Saturday is Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  The event is free with museum admission. General admission: $10. Adults, $8. Seniors, $6. Youth, FREE to CHM members and ages 3 and younger.
