My Hero Gala Hosted by the Hornets and Novant Health

It's an event the Charlotte Hornets look forward to every year. An event that's planned with care, about people who care. My Hero Gala is hosted by the Hornets Foundation and Novant Health. It’s a fundraising event that honors local heroes who have impacted the community, all while raising money that goes to local foundations, including helping veterans, and teachers.

Bernie Washington is the director of the Hornets foundation, and has been instrumental in planning for the annual My Hero Gala, honoring those community members, like Dr. Paulette Bryant, for their work and dedication to the Charlotte community.

Dr. Bryant is the lead doctor if Hematology at Hembys Children's hospital, St. Jude. Her research and care for cancer patients is one that sparked the interest of the Hornets and Novant Health. Dr. Bryant was so shocked to be chosen as a local hero - so shocked, she still doesn't believe it's happening.

The Gala is taking place Saturday October 24th, at the Time Warner Cable Arena. For more information on the Foundation and how you can help, click here.
