Did you hear it? A mysterious loud boom that was heard and felt Monday in east Davidson was due to nearby construction, according to Cornelius-Lemley Fire and Rescue.

A post was shared to a local community Facebook page Monday, "Large boom in east Davidson RATTLED windows. Sonic boom? Sounded close. Now there are sirens...not sure. Anyone?"

A slew of comments followed the post, with everyone trying to figure out the source of the sound.

Cornelius-Lemley Fire and Rescue posted on the thread saying they responded to reports of an explosion in the Bailey Road and River run area Monday evening. The cause was found to be a construction company blasting rock in the Bailey's Glen subdivision.

The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident to ensure all proper permits were in place and procedures were followed. There was no damage to life or property.
