The Occupational Safety and Health Division with the NC Labor Department is investigating the death of 19-year-old Mason Cox after his body was pulled into a wood chipper.

The incident happened on Saturday, according to Kings Mountain police.

Mason Scott Cox was working for Crawford Tree and Stump Service cutting down trees. Police pronounced Cox dead on the scene. His body was found inside the wood chipper.

The division is looking into Crawford Tree and Stump Services for any workplace violations, health violations, violations of standards for tree operations, employee training program and equipment usage.

Police say they've determined his death was accidental.

Cox's sister Carla Louchez says due to the overwhelming response the location for her brother's funeral has been changed to a larger church.

The funeral is Wednesday, at 1:30pm, at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 1101 N Main Street, Lowell, NC 28098.

Family will receive friends directly following the ceremony at Lowell United Methodist Church, 201 N Main St, Lowell, NC 28098
