New clinic hopes to prevent homelessness

The Charlotte School of Law and Legal Aid of North Carolina are partnering up to help represent low-income tenants in legal battles to avoid eviction.

Officials say for many if they are evicted they could also lose the money they receive from the government and may not be able to pay the costs of renting somewhere else.

Officials say it’s a growing problem in Mecklenburg County and with the help of nine law students Legal Aid will be able to take on more cases.
