The Cornelius Police Department has partnered with State Highway Patrol to help raise money for a police captain and patrol sergeant's child who was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain tumor.

Through their 'No Shave November' fundraiser, police hope to help Police Captain Jennifer Thompson and NC State Highway Patrol Sergeant Eric Thompson's 4-year-old son, Jace.

The Cornelius Police Department said they are assisting with fundraising efforts to support the Thompsons as they seek medical treatment.

Beginning on Wednesday November 1, Cornelius officers will be voluntarily participating in 'No Shave November' by growing facial hair to raise money. Officers are donating $40 to be allowed to grow facial hair, waving the department's grooming policy.
