Off-duty Lincoln Co. deputy accidentally shoots 11-year-old daughter

An 11-year-old is recovering after she was accidentally shot by her mother, an off-duty Lincoln County deputy, officials said.

Misty Flowers, 38, who works for at the Lincoln County courthouse, was at her home Saturday night on Loop Road when she accidently fired the gun. The bullet went through a wall and hit her daughter, according to officials.

Lincoln deputies were called to the home just before 11:30 p.m. and immediately started first-aid on the child.

The girl was taken to CHS-Lincoln and later airlifted to CHS Main in Charlotte. According to deputies, she underwent surgery and is in stable condition.

Flowers has been with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office since 2015. She previously worked for the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office before that.

The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating.
