Officer out of Hospital after Dog Attack

An officer was released from the hospital a day after he was bitten by a dog after it attacked him and another woman in Davidson.

Corporal David Houk went to help a woman he noticed was being attacked by a dog that was not on a leash. The dog then turned on the officer, biting him several times in the face and hand. Houk fired a shot. The dog died instantly.

Witnesses say Houk did everything he could before shooting and killing the dog.

The officer was in the St. Alban's neighborhood to do a home security check when he noticed the attacking dog.

The woman was also treated and released from the hospital.

Neighbors believe the dog was a German Shepard mix.

Davidson police are still looking into what happened to decide if the dog's owner will face charges.
