Officials: CMS schools see decrease in weapons from last year

After a Mallard Creek High School student was disciplined for bringing a stun gun to school last week Fox 46 decided to investigate.

We reached out to CMPD to find out the number of weapons confiscated at schools and compare the results to last year.

We're told from August until now, 30 weapons have been seized. Including 1 firearm, 2 toy guns/BB guns, 23 knives and 4 taser/stun guns.

During the same time last year there were 39 weapons seized. Including 1 firearm, 6 toy guns/BB guns, 25 knives, 1 taser/stun gun and 6 other.

CMPD says this is an overall decrease of 23% compared to last year.
