Officials: Person suffers cardiac arrest while working on rafter inside Charlotte theatre

A person had to be rushed to the hospital after reportedly suffering cardiac arrest while working on scaffolding 85 feet off the ground, officials said.

Emergency crews were called about 3:30 p.m. to uptown Charlotte Monday for a high-angle rescue involving a person on a scaffolding.

Officials said a person reportedly suffered cardiac arrest while working on the rafters in the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center on 130 block of N. Tryon Street.

Medic said the person was on a scaffolding about 85 feet up from the ground. They said two rescue crews were attending to the patient -- one from the top and the other crew waiting below to take over.

About 4 p.m. the person was rushed out of the building, Medic said.

The patient's name and condition have not been released.
