Charlotte, NC - One person was killed and others were injured when heavy rain caused more than 60 crashes Monday morning across the Charlotte area.
The rain caused low visibility and the pooling of water on roadways. Fox 46's Chuck Roads was advising drivers to leave extra time and "pack extra patience" trying to get to work Monday.
One driver was killed in a crash on the Interstate 77 southbound ramp to Interstate 485 outer loop. Initial reports indicate the driver may have been involved in a crash and left their car when they were struck by another vehicle.
Emergency officials reported other injury wrecks around the area but details about the extent of injuries was not immediately known.
Chuck Roads estimated there was more than 60 crashes during the Monday morning commute.
