One person was rushed to the hospital after his car was riddled with bullets during a drive-by shooting on Interstate 85 northbound in Charlotte Monday afternoon.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say they found a male inside a vehicle on the side of I-85 north near I-77 with multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators believe another car pulled along-side the victim's vehicle and started shooting.

The victim's car had at least 12 bullet holes.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center. His injuries are serious, but not life threatening, according to police.

No arrests have been made at this time.

I-85 north was closed between Beatties Ford and Statesville Avenue. The ramp from I-77 to I-85 north was also shut down as police searched for shell casings.
