Charlotte, NC - The Carolina Panthers have announced added security measures at Bank of America stadium following attacks and threats at stadiums and other event sites overseas.
“As always, the safety of our fans, stadium personnel, and the teams remain our first priority,” said Lance Emory, Carolina Panthers Executive Director of Risk Management. “We will have heightened security on game day, and encourage fans to arrive early and leave bags at home if at all possible.”
Fans should expect to see an increase in security outside of entry gates. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department will have a larger presence with more officers at the gates, on bike patrol, and patrons will see additional observation towers in the area.
Fans are encouraged to leave bags at home. Purses and bags smaller than 4.5" by 6.5" will be permitted into the stadium after inspection.
All fans are encouraged to arrive early to allow time for extra screening and security.
The Carolina Panthers play the Washington Redskins at home in Charlotte Sunday. The game kicks off at 1p on Fox 46 WJZY.
