Two people are in custody following a reported robbery and nail-biting traffic stop Monday morning on Interstate-85 in Charlotte.

The incident began at 8:05 a.m., when Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers responded to the Billy Graham Parkway and I-85 in reference to a vehicle spotted that was possibly connected to a robbery.

The traffic stop was captured on camera by a witness who told FOX 46 Charlotte, "I was stuck in the middle of a very dangerous situation. There were police officers behind and beside me with their guns all drawn towards a white van that was in front of me," Kristin Wellman said. "At one point, I even had police at the corners of my vehicle which seemed to me like they were using my vehicle as a shield."

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said after speaking with the victim and witnesses, they were able to determine the incident was actually a simple-assault.

At least two people are in custody and are being interviewed by detectives to determine who will be charged, police said.
