Plane part falls onto Mount Holly golf course

Mount Holly, NC -

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after a plane part fell and landed on a Mount Holly golf course.

Matt Sherill snapped images of the aircraft piece and sent them to Fox 46 News. Sherill found the piece of metal around 8:30a Wednesday on the seventh hole of the Green Meadows Golf Course.

American Airlines confirmed the metal piece is a small panel door to a hydraulic system measuring approximately 15 inches by 16 inches. The system is not pressurized and posed no danger to the passengers or crew.

The door came from American Airlines flight 1910, which landed at Charlotte Douglas International Airport from Dallas at 8:44 a.m.

American Airlines says it is working closely with the FAA.
