Police: 2 charged after bringing gun inside Charlotte church

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Two men have been accused of bringing a gun into a north Charlotte church.

27-year-old Michael B. Blake was charged Sunday with carrying a concealed weapon. A 16-year-old boy was charged with possession of a firearm by a minor and carrying a concealed weapon.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say investigators don't believe the two had malicious intent.

Authorities say they were called Sunday to the First Haitian Church of Grace by church leaders who said the pair, carrying a backpack, was acting suspiciously.

When police arrived, church leaders told them they didn't want to disrupt the service, so the officers left the scene but stayed in the vicinity.

The two males were arrested later after church leaders confronted them and say they found a gun in their backpack.
