Police: 3-year-old girl, woman shot in east Charlotte

A 3-year-old girl and a woman were rushed to the hospital following a shooting at an apartment overnight in east Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. 

Officers responded to a call for shots fired at an apartment complex located in the 4600 block of Sharon Chase Drive at 1:21 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17. 

Upon arrival, police found a 3-year-old girl and woman who had been shot. Both were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries, police said. 

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, the child was grazed by a bullet in the foot, while the woman was shot in the leg.

The initial investigation reveals that shots were fired both inside of the home as well as outside. Both victims were inside the apartment when the shooting happened. Two other occupied apartments were also hit by gunfire.
