Police: Arrest made in north Charlotte homicide

A man is facing multiple charges in connection to the murder of a Charlotte man on Sunday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. 

Carlton Hancock, 47, has been charged with the murder of Brian Scott Carriker, 56, police said. 

On Sunday, Nov. 18 officers were called to the 1300 block of Tinnin Avenue around 1:08 a.m. for an assault with a deadly weapon. As they arrived on scene, officers located Carriker deceased inside the home with obvious trauma. 

Later in the day, detectives said they developed information on the whereabouts of Hancock. Greensboro Police, High Point Police and the NC SBI worked together to take Hancock into custody. 

Hancock is charged with murder, assault by strangulation, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and motor vehicle theft. He is currently being held at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
