Police chase ends after driver crashes into daycare van in north Charlotte

A high-speed police chase ended Thursday morning after the suspect crashed into two vehicles, one a daycare van, in north Charlotte, police said. 

Police say 19-year-old Kyheem Henton faces multiple charges during the morning's police chase. 

Highway Patrol pursued the vehicle through the city, with the chase ending on Ridge Road. The chase prompted Ridge Road Middle School and Highland Creek Elementary to go on lockdown. 

"Two ladies came up and were knocking on people's windows. I didn't what was going on but I saw the choas with car turing around and everything.  They said the school was on lockdown and to take your kid because it's a real threat," said parent Scott Sheffield 

Two vehicles were struck by the suspect during the police chase including a daycare van from gateway Academy. Police said five students were on board the bus during the crash. They add one child on the bus was sent to Novant Health with minor injuries.
