Police: Dispute led to shootings that killed 2 teens, injured toddler

A 16-year-old was killed and a 3-year-old was injured folllwing a shooting at an apartment complex Thursday night in Hickory.

The shooting happened about 8:19 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Heights Apartments on 1st Street. Both the teen and toddler were taken to Frye Regional Medical Center.

The 16-year-old, now identified as Devin O'Dariess Lee, died as a result of his injuries, police said. The toddler was outside in the area at the time of the shooting and struck by shrapnel. The child is expected to be okay.

Officials said one of two suspects in the shooting, Zamare Nadja Davidson, 17, was found dead about 40 minutes later of a self-inflicted gunshot would at a residence in Burke County. 

The second suspect, Jonathan Tyler Laxton, 20, was taken into custody at the residence and charged with one count of accessory after the fact.

Officers said the shooting started from a dispute betweent Davidson and Lee.
