Police: Fight between brothers leads to stabbing

The Iredell County Sheriff's Office is investigating a stabbing involving brothers.

Officers responded to the area of Fern Hill Road in Troutman on Monday afternoon after receiving a 911 call that a person had been stabbed.

While responding to the call, deputies were informed by Emergency Communications that two brothers were fighting and one brother had stabbed the other repeatedly.

The sheriff's office said before deputies arrived, the suspect, Jeffery Lamont Moore, 48, left the scene on a moped heading toward Troutman. Deputies were given a description of Moore and the moped. He was found and stopped a few minutes later just north of Troutman on Shelton Avenue, according to deputies.

Responding deputies arrived on scene of the stabbing and found the victim had suffered numerous stabs wounds to his head, torso and hands, according to deputies.

The victim was taken to the Iredell Memorial Hospital and Moore was taken into custody and transported to the Iredell Co. Sheriff's Office.

Moore was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Authorities said the victim's wounds did not appear life threatening at the time of this report and he is expected to recover. Moore is being held in the Iredell County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

Authorities said Moore has previous convictions for drug violations, breaking and entering and larceny.
