Police identify 35-year-old woman murdered in Steele Creek

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has identified a 35-year-old woman who they said was murdered in the Steele Creek neighborhood. 

Officers were called to the 13100 block of Black Chestnut Place at 3:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4 for a welfare check. As they arrived on scene, they located Stephanie Potts, 35, deceased inside of the home. 

Her family has been notified of her death, police said. 

This remains an ongoing and active investigation.
