Police: Man dies after crashing into north Charlotte building

One man has died after crashing into a building in north Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

The incident happened just before 5 a.m. on Tuesday at Inbound Brookshire Boulevard near I-85 in north Charlotte.

When officers arrived they found a vehicle that had driven off the roadway and hit a building at 3741 Brookshire Boulevard.

Medic arrived on scene and transported the man, Tony Lamar Cunningham, to CMC-Main where he was pronounced deceased a short time after.

CMPD told FOX 46 Charlotte the man was driving between 85 and 100 MPH off the Brookshire ramp when he lost control and crashed starting a fire.

All lanes were shut down but have since been reopened.
