CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A man didn't make it far from the entrance of a south Charlotte restaurant before another person shot him to death, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Domingo Venancio-Tapia. The deadly shooting happened at 10:54 p.m. Monday, April 29 at the Restaurante Lempira located at 5906 South Boulevard.
As officers arrived at the scene, they located a man who was directly in front of the restaurant with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Detectives said Venancio-Tapia had been inside the restaurant and was shot within a few minutes of exiting the building.
Surveillance video shows moments before the shooting, and shows the victim Venancio-Tapia shaking hands and hugging a man who the restaurant owner says shot and killed him.
The restaurant owner told FOX 46 Charlotte that there wasn't an altercation inside the restaurant and the victim and suspect seemed to be good friends. They reportedly left the restaurant together, and the victim was killed moments later.
