Police: Man stabbed over argument about social media post

A man was taken to the hospital after he was stabbed following an argument about a social media post, Gastonia County police said.

The stabbing happened around 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18 along the 100 block of Stoneys Drive.

Upon arrival, officers found Brandon Lee Carlin, 30, suffering from a stab wound to the chest area. Carlin was taken to Caromont Regional Medical Center and then transferred to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for further treatment. He is still at CMC as of Monday.

The subsequent investigation identified Larry Wayne Brown, 51, as the suspect. Brown resides at the Stoney Dr address and he is an acquaintance of Carlin who was there with another family member to pick up a child.  Police said the fight reportedly stemmed from a prior social media post between the two.

Brown was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with Intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He's currently being held in the Gaston County Jail on a $300,000 secure bond.

The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Rheinson at 704-866-3320.
