Police: Man wanted in carjacking, sexual assault connected to robbery

Authorities say a man wanted in connection to a reported sexual assault and carjacking in the Park road Shopping Center has now also been named a suspect in a robbery. 

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, the robbery happened before the carjacking incident on Friday, Nov. 16 at 1:19 a.m. in the 1800 block of Montford Drive. 

A woman told officers a man entered her vehicle and stole personal property. 

A short time later at 2:03 a.m., officers responded to a carjacking and sexual assault. The woman told officers she was using an ATM in the 1600 block of E Woodlawn Road when she was approached by an unknown man. The suspect forced his way into her vehicle with a weapon, drove to another location, and attempted to sexually assault her.

Due to the proximity and suspect description given, police believe these two incidents are related. 

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'7" to 5'8" tall, and was last seen wearing jeans, a two tone jean jacket, black and white shoes, a black hat and a gray mask covering his nose and mouth. 

CMPD officers have been conducting additional patrols in the area of Park Road Shopping Center, Parktowne Village, and Montford Drive.
