Police: Masked men knock woman out, attempt to sexually assault her in armed robbery

Police need your help finding two masked man who barged into a woman’s south Charlotte home and brutally attacked her.

This is the second violent attack on Charlotte women in one week. CMPD is still looking for the man that raped a security guard in South End.

Around 6 a.m. on June 6, the victim says she answered the door of her home in the 600 block of Archdale Drive to two masked men who forced their way into ther home and demanded property. One of the suspects hit her with an object, knocking her out for a short amount of time.

Police say she sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment and evaluation.

“That’s scary to know it’s happening right here under your noise,” said Rachel Leach-Tate. “If someone wants you bad enough they are going to be whatever they can to get you.”

Leach-Tate knows what it’s like to be robbed at home. “Last year someone tried to rob my house, this year, tried to break into my car.” She keeps her car parked inches from her back door and says if someone is brazen enough to get that close to her home, nothing is stopped them.

“I’m pretty sure those guys are from around here too I mean someone has to know something,” said another homeowner who is warning his wife and teenage daughter.

“I hope someone catches them because were so brave to do it to that lady, what about the rest of us? We are no different from her!” said Leach-Tate.

Detectives have not been able to get a specific description of the suspects at this point in time, but the victim says there was also a breaking and entering attempt at her home on June 4. Detectives have yet to determine if these cases are related.

Anyone with information related to this case is asked to call 911, or Crimestoppers at 704-334-1600. The lead detective on the case is Detective Melendez. Callers are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
