STATESVILLE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A Statesville woman is facing multiple charges after she reportedly stole a firearm and shot it at a man's truck, according to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said on Friday, Dec. 28 a man called 911 stating he had been traveling on Redeemed Road near Harmoney when he saw a naked woman hiding near the roadway.
The man told Iredell County deputies that he stopped and asked the woman if she needed help. The woman, identified as Dulce Marie-Ruby Martinez, 21, said 'yes,' she did.
The 911 caller said while attempting to help Martinez, the woman reportedly jumped into his truck and grabbed a handgun which was lying on the center console. After a brief struggle, the man said Martinez was able to get ahold of the handgun and fired it one time, causing damage to his truck.
As deputies and EMS arrived on scene, Martinez gave conflicting information about the incident. She was taken to the hospital to be evaluated, deputies said.
Based on interviews and evidence gathered at the scene, deputies arrested Martinez and charged her with felony breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, felony larceny of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, injury to personal property, and simple assault.
