Police: Possible suspect in east Charlotte shooting was 'within the family'

New information has been released about a 27-year-old woman who was shot and killed in east Charlotte on Monday.

Neighbors tell FOX 46 they had no idea the potential danger the problems brewing inside the victim's home presented.

Crime stats from Charlotte Mecklenburg police show officers are rarely called to Great Laurel Road in east Charlotte, but around 2 p.m. on Monday, officers say 27-year-old Tulvel McDouglad was found dead inside her home from a gunshot wound.

Investigators say it appears the shooting may have been a result of domestic violence.

"Domestic violence is real and you don't know how real it is until it's in your back yard,” neighbor Lisa Green said.

Friends and neighbors say McDouglad was the mother of a young child.

FOX 46 cameras were there as a child was taken out of the home by a CMPD officer, and another person was questioned inside a squad car.

So far investigators haven't confirmed who was home with McDouglad at the time of her death, but a CMPD police report listed the possible suspect as someone "within the family.”

Police have yet to release what kind of relationship the victim and person who was taken in for questioning had.
