A Rock Hill mother has admitted to police she buried her newborn child in the yard after the child did not survive his birth, according to police records obtained by Fox 46 News.

Investigators believe Tara Ostrowski gave birth to a 35-week-old boy on May 18. At some point, the child passed away and Ostrowski buried the boy near Bailey Avenue in Rock Hill behind her home.

Ostrowski is accused of keeping her pregnancy a secret from her family and husband. The birth of the child went unknown until an informant contacted a mental health employee. That employee notified police, who poke to Ostrowski at her home on May 25. The police report said Ostrowski willingly showed police where she buried the child.

The remains of the child were transported to The York County Coroner's Office, where tests showed he had hydrocodone, methamphetamine and metabolite amphetamine in his system.

Ostrowski was charged Tuesday with Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child. The investigation is ongoing. She is in Rock HIll City jail and has been denied bond.
