Police search for suspected murderer who kidnapped 3-month-old

An all-out search is underway to get a suspected murderer off the streets.

Jonathan Bennett, 23, is accused of killing the mother of his child, identified as Brittany White, 24, then kidnapping their three-month-old. The baby was found safe and unharmed Thursday afternoon, but police have yet to find Bennett. 

The murder and kidnapping took place in the 4100 block of Carlyle Dr. in West Charlotte. Police were called to the scene for reports of shots fired.

When they arrived, they found White dead in the home. Another child was also found there, unharmed. It's unknown if either child witnessed the murder at this time.

 "At least five shots…when I jumped up and looked out the police come through here flying," said one neighbor. 

It was a chaotic scene in the neighborhood. children saw police cars and flashing lights as they got off the bus from school, and it's what neighbors came face to face with when they returned home from work.

"I heard it's the first homicide of the year. and over here that's scary and that's terrible," another neighbor told FOX 46. 

Bennett has a lengthy criminal record, with multiple charges for assault on a female and communicating threats. He's believed to be driving a white Ford Expedition with the New York license plate HUP3071.

We believe this to be a senseless act of domestic violence Mr. Bennett is outstanding at this time. should be considered armed and dangerous anyone who sees Mr. Bennett should call 911. 

Officers say he is armed and dangerous, and that everyone should be on the lookout.
