Charlotte, NC - Twelve chickens are in the custody of Carolina Waterfowl and Rescue after officials say over 50 animals were found in unsanitary conditions.
Mitchell County Police seized the animals Wednesday. A total of 35 birds were found
Officials say the birds are battling issues with lice and mites and have burns on their legs. They underwent exams and medical treatment earlier Thursday.
The rescue group says they need help to pay for medications for these birds. They're also looking for people to adopt other roosters and hens.
