The Newton Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a man who they believe robbed a local Circle K convenience store with a stun gun.

The incident happened at 12:47 a.m. Tuesday, April 2 at the Circle K located at 334 E. 20th Street.

Witnesses told officers that a light skin male, between 5 feet, 8 inches and 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with long blonde hair and a mole on his upper cheek entered the store and asked for two packs of cigarettes.

The man was wearing a green and brown toboggan with a black and white bandana covering his mouth and nose, a black jacket, and light colored pants. The clerk asked the man to remove his bandana while in the store. That's when the man told the clerk he was robbing him and showed the stun gun.

The suspect reportedly engaged the device several times to prove to the clerk it was real.

The clerk told police that they gave the suspect the cigarettes and money from the register. The suspect then fled the store on foot. No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Investigator Adkins at the Newton Police Department at 828-465-7430.
