Police: Suspect wanted in Payless Shoe Store, GameStop robberies

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who is wanted in connection to two separate robberies. 

On Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 11:25 a.m., officers responded to the 3100 block of Eastway Drive in reference to a robbery. The employee told police that the suspect entered the Payless Shoe Store and brandished a weapon while demanding money.

Once the suspect obtained the property he fled the scene. 

One day later, on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 2:11 p.m., the suspect entered the GameStop located at 4704 South Boulevard. Once inside the store,  the suspect displayed a firearm and took property before fleeing the business.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s, and was last seen wearing a black jacket and black pants.

Police say another Payless Shoe Store was robbed in the 1800 block of Galleria Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18.

According to the report, a man indicated that he had a gun and robbed the store. No one was injured and no arrest has been made. Police say they cannot say if the two Payless robberies are connected at this time. Detectives are continuing to investigate.
