Police: Teen arrested after making bomb threat, mentions ISIS

A 16-year-old student has been arrested after claiming to have a bomb and mentioning ISIS, according to Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office.

Paul Andrew Warner stood up in class at Northwest Cabarrus High School and said he had a bomb, according to police.

Warner also mentioned something in reference to ISIS but the sheriff's office is continuing to investigate.

The student did not have a bomb but the school resource officer found a knife when they searched him.

Warner has been charged with having a weapon on school grounds and false report of a bomb. He is being charged as an adult.

The sheriff's office says the high school was evacuated and a sweep was done before students returned to class.
