CHARLOTTE, N.C (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A woman and a child were shot in southwest Charlotte over the weekend, according to Charlotte Mecklenburg police.
Around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16, officers were called to a home in the 10500 block of Glory Meadow Court for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman who had been shot in the arm and a 5-year-old child who had been shot in the leg inside of the house. Both were taken to the hospital by MEDIC where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
"That is very upsetting, very upsetting. I mean what was the point of that?" neighbor Sue Stuckey said.
K-9 units were brought to the scene to assist with finding possible suspects. Officers also conducted a canvass of the area for any potential witnesses.
"It's a little scary since we don’t know for sure who did it. It makes you want to keep your doors locked," said Stuckey.
There are no suspects in custody at this time.
